Description

These tangy carrot chips deliver all the satisfaction of your favorite salty snack with a healthy twist. The perfect balance of sharp vinegar and sea salt transforms simple carrots into an irresistible treat that both kids and adults will love!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 medium carrots, washed and peeled (if desired)
  • 12 tablespoons white vinegar (or apple cider vinegar for a milder taste)
  • 1/41/2 teaspoon salt (sea salt or Himalayan pink salt recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil (optional, for coating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Carrots: Wash your carrots thoroughly. Peel if desired. Slice into thin rounds or “chip” shapes (about 1/8 inch thick). A mandoline slicer gives the most even results for better texture and flavor absorption.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Place the sliced carrots in a medium bowl.
  3. Add Seasoning: Drizzle the white vinegar over the carrots. Start with 1 tablespoon and increase if you like a stronger tang.
  4. Season with Salt: Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon salt evenly over the carrots. Adjust to taste.
  5. Add Oil (Optional): For richer flavor and to help seasonings adhere, add 1 teaspoon olive oil.
  6. Toss Thoroughly: Mix everything well so each slice is evenly coated. Use clean hands or a spoon.
  7. Serve Immediately: Enjoy these chips fresh for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Slice carrots uniformly for even flavor and texture. A mandoline is highly recommended.
  • Start with less seasoning—you can always add more later.
  • Let the carrots sit for 2–3 minutes after seasoning to allow flavors to meld before serving.
  • Optional baking or air-frying methods can turn these into crispy chips:
    • Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange slices on a parchment-lined sheet in a single layer. Bake 15–25 min, flipping halfway, until crispy.
    • Air Fryer: Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10–15 min, shaking every 5 min until crispy.
